Order Swordbruden is an Order of Knighthood dedicated to the highest principles of conduct required of Knights and Warriors as set forth in the Code of Chivalry. Not just Warriors and Knights, but Clerics, Mages, and Tradesmen also help make up the line and ranks of Swordbruden. All must uphold the honor and dignity of this Order with the same level of devotion and dedication. The Order exists to encourage and foster honorable challenge combat as well as providing a forum for those members who wish to role-play in a medieval atmosphere. This order also exists to encourage those members that wish to have a platform for shared information, demonstrations, discussions and a posting site for their continuing research into the Middle Ages.

Order Swordbruden is dedicated to assisting all its members with various gaming adventures, and tutoring them in all aspects of the quests they pursue and general medieval role-playing as well as the fine art of combat. Order Swordbruden has a self appointed duty to help and encourage, not only it's own members, but to be of aid to those who do not know the game as well. This may manifest itself in assisting at providing minimum equipment standards, maps, healing, and other general gaming aids.

Discipline

At times, due to ones action it may become necessary to enforce punishment. This could occur due to a member failing to exercise the Code of Chivalry either with a fellow member, or another game player. Discipline would be used in an attempt to rehabilitate a member who may have strayed from our path. The form of discipline would depend on the severity of the offense, and so would its punishment.

Small infractions: Would be allowed up to three times. On the third offense the said individual would be up for Dismissal Charges. Generally the punishment would be fines and quests of repentance. Examples of this would be cursing or lying to a fellow member.

Moderate Crimes: This would only be allowed to happen once, with punishment. Upon the second offense the individual would be up for dismissal. General punishment would consist of heavy fines, demotion in rank, forfeiture of corresponding game lands and quests of repentance. Examples of this would be thief of property from a member or misconduct and harrassment, sexual or otherwise. Total disrespect for a sovereign's law of the land.

Heinous Crimes: This would only be allowed to happen once, with punishment. Upon the second offense the individual would be up for dismissal. One would forfeiture of all rights and properties, official censure and reduction of two levels of rank and quests of repentance. Examples of this would be the cold-blooded murder of the innocent. Deformation of that what is holy to the order. Desertions from a battle, while leaving you're Order Members to fend for themselves.

High Treason: This crime would not be allowed. Punishment, once found guilty of the charge is the immediate dismissal from the order. Examples of this would be the attempt to bring about the death of the order. Murder of fellow members. Betray the order on the field of battle, and cause its doom.

Dismissal: As a Novice (starting level) you can be released from the order for any infractions of the orders rules. Or if one feels like they will not fit into the order then they can ask to be released.

If it should become necessary to implement dismissal procedures against a member the following shall occur:

  1. Any formal accusation will be brought forward to the Council by the proper knight in the chain of command. Including any and all facts related to the matter.
  2. A meeting of the Council shall hear evidence and testimony in the matter.
  3. The member may contest the dismissal and may request an audience with the Council to present his/her case. This member may ask to bring witnesses to testify on his/her behalf.
  4. The Council shall vote on dismissal and inform the member of the results.
  5. Generally for small infractions, and moderate crimes the accuser and the accused will not face each other. In this environment, it would only promote ill will between the two. All crimes are against the Order, not a member of the order.
  6. For crimes that are heinous in nature or high treason, the accused will be allowed to confront the accuser. For these accusations are indeed very serious, and all the matter pertaining should be gotten first hand.
  7. A prosecutor will be appointed if such charges are brought forward. The prosecutor shall present. If not a senior Knight Marshall then the accuser will be appointed the prosecutor. For a crime to be brought one member must agree it should be brought forward, therefore willingly assumes the roles of prosecutor.
  8. Some level of innocent / guilty vote needs to be done:
    1. Minor infractions: guilty or innocent on 4 of 7 votes required
    2. Moderate Crimes: guilty or innocent on 4 of 7 votes required
    3. Heinous Crimes: guilty or innocent on 5 of 7 votes required
    4. High Treason: guilty or innocent on 5 of 7 votes required
  9. Anyone found guilty of bringing forth-false charges against a brother/sister will face half the normal sentence. This is to prevent frivolous or untrue charges being put forward. Remember these are your fellow brothers and sisters. Treat them that way.
